Help and Make the World a Better Place

Self-Reliance Program

What We Do

Self-reliance is one of the key factors in eliminating poverty.

Our projects for the underprivileged focuses on empowering able men, women and adolescent youth with skills, resources, and opportunities to achieve long-term economic independence.

Our empowering Program starts through vocational training in appropriate fields and financial assistance for small businesses to build a sustainable livelihood for those who lack education and have limited access to land, the root cause of property.

Our Work - Small Business Grants Invest in a Business, Change a Life

Small business grants are a valuable tool to help poor and needy people improve their economic condition, build a better future for themselves, and earn a living for their families. Small business grants can be a means of achieving success and prosperity, as long as they are pursued with the right intentions and with a focus on excellence.

We offer grants for various business needs, for women to buy sewing machines, to start parlors, and for men to stock shops and buy rickshaws. We also provide start-up grants for needy people to boost their business start-up plans. Our grants range from $100-$500, making it easier for those in need to start their own businesses.

Some of our sustainable self-reliance programs you can join with Us

Sewing Machine Grants

“From Fabric to Fortune”

For many people, sewing is not just a hobby but a way to make a living. Our sewing machine grants are designed to help aspiring females who want to start their own tailoring, dressmaking, or alteration businesses. With a sewing machine, these creative individuals can turn their skills into profitable ventures and provide for their families.

Empowering Women Through Entrepreneurship

The Sewing Machine Grants initiative aims to empower aspiring female entrepreneurs who have a passion for sewing and a desire to start their own businesses. We recognize that, for many women, sewing is not just a hobby but a valuable skill that can be transformed into a source of income and economic independence. By providing sewing machine grants, we aim to support women in pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams and building sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families.

How It Works

Our sewing machine grants are designed to be accessible and impactful. Women who demonstrate a commitment to entrepreneurship and have a passion for sewing are eligible to apply for a grant. Upon approval, recipients receive a brand-new sewing machine. Along with training if required.

Supporting Sustainable Livelihoods

At its core, the Sewing Machine Grants initiative is about supporting sustainable livelihoods for women and their families. By equipping women with the tools and resources they need to start their own sewing businesses, we help create pathways out of poverty and dependence, fostering self-reliance and resilience. Sewing machine grants not only provide immediate economic benefits but also lay the foundation for long-term financial stability and prosperity.

Project Small Goat Farm

Goat Farm is ideal for self-reliance on small acreage. They offer high-quality milk, meat, and manure for gardening while requiring less feed and space, making them efficient, sustainable additions to a homestead

GOATS HELP FAMILIES FEED THEMSELVES

Give a goat to a family in need. Along with training and education in its care, each goat gift donation:

  • - Provides milk, cheese and butter for nourishment
  • - Boosts income through sales of extra milk and wool from some varieties.
  • - Encourages better crop yields by creating fertilizer and clearing land

Goats are known for providing delicious milk, which can be used to create cheese that can be sold for income, in turn providing a family's children with the opportunity to go to school. Goats are ideal for zero grazing, which means very little land is needed to raise them. Their natural curiosity and intelligence also make them great pets for families with children.

Our empowering Program starts through vocational training in appropriate fields and financial assistance for small businesses to build a sustainable livelihood for those who lack education and have limited access to land, the root cause of property.

Goats help families feed themselves

On small farms, goats are often the key to a family’s survival. Give a goat to a family in need. Along with training and education in its care, each goat gift donation boosts income through sales of milk, milk products like cheese. Selling goats for meat is highly profitable, particularly around holidays like Ramadan, Easter and Christmas. Ideal market weight is 20–40 kg, typically sold under 12 months old.

Give a goat to a family in need of self-sustain.

Small Poultry Farm Project

Starting a small home poultry farm is a practical way to produce fresh eggs, requiring just a small plot of 100x50 = 500 sq feet and 3–10 hens to start. Key requirements include a secure, dry, and well-ventilated coop for shelter from predators and weather, equipped with roosting areas and nesting boxes. Costs can be minimized by using recycled materials for shelters, feeders, and drinkers.

Key Aspects of Small-Scale Poultry Farming

  • Startup Size: Begin with 3–10 hens, which allows for learning management techniques before expanding.
  • Coop Construction: A simple structure with proper ventilation and protection from rain/predators is essential. Use materials like wood, bamboo, or recycled iron sheets to keep costs low.
  • Feeding: Reduce costs by allowing birds to free-range for insects and weeds, supplemented with kitchen scraps (vegetable peelings, rice).
  • Maintenance: Regularly clean the coop, change bedding, and provide fresh water daily to prevent disease.
  • Egg Production: With proper care, a small flock can provide a consistent supply of eggs, improving both nutrition and household sustainability.
  • Disease Prevention: Implementing biosecurity measures, such as restricted access and keeping the coop clean, is more effective than treating sickness.

A system of growing 25 chickens in a metal cage; eggs obtained from each cage adds taka 5,000 to 6,000 ($40-$50) per month to the income of the family.

Startup cost of each cage and chicken is about $200 (taka 25,000 approx).
