Inaugration of Alekunnessaa Orphanage

In March 2013 The inauguration of the “Alekunnessa Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage” has been successfully organized. The orphanage started with 10 orphans and will accommodate more orphans as the orphanage grows. Sofia Begum of Borakotha Mia Bari, Barishal, established this orphanage at the Honor of her Mother in Law Ms. Alekunnessa Aziz (1897-1975). Ms. Alekunnessa was a social activist and a very kind, helpful person, dedicating her life to the wellbeing of others in many ways. In honor of her activities, several scholarships were introduced to the students at the local high school. Scholarships have continued for last 20 years since 2005 and are continuing till today.

Construction of new buildings are underway to enhance madrasa’s educational activities, accommodation facilities for orphan students, and the overall environment will become more improved and expanded
